Union: Dkak Sins: After repeated efforts to have a field trial of the different Mowing Machines represented at this place, for the purpose of testing the merits and points of superiority of each, an arrangement was finally made for a public trial before a court of five judges selected from our best farmers, who subjected each machine to such thorough tests that even to fail would hardly bring dihgi'ace. The persons selected as judges were Messrs. David King, Joseph Crowden, Capt. Elliott, Peter and • The competing'machines were the Hubbard, Yankee Mower, Hufllue, Wood and McCormick. The place selected for trial was Mr. G. B. Chappell's meadow, which, owing to recent heavy rains, was somewhat soft, but this did not prove a serious obstacle to either of* the machines. After trying each Mower fast, then slow, then bv stopping In heavy grass and starting without backing up, and closely observing the relative side-draft, the judges decided in favor of the McCormick, and this decision was concurred in by a large majority of the spectators. Farmers, look toyoUt interests! Try the McCormick, it will cost you nothing as you have the privilege of returning it if it fails to give satisfaction. L-
