OKDIXANCO NO. 19. An ordinanc* to restrain the running at large of hog s and thotel over three month* old, within the town of Rensselaer, and to establish a Public Pound within said town. Sec. 1. Be it ordained bv the Board of Trustees of the town of Rensselaer, that it shall be unlawful for nny'hog, or shote above three mouths old to run at large within the town of Rensselaer, without having a ring in the nose, or the nose eutor slit so us to effectually prevent rooting. Sko. 2. Be it further ordained, that tho Marshal shall prepare at the expense of the town a suitable enclosure to he used as a Public Pound, on the front fence or wall of which shall bo put up a conspicuous notice or sign con ta ming the words, “PublieJPound.” Sec. 3. Be it further ordained, that any hog or shote above three months old, found running at large within the town in violation of this ordinance shall be taken up by the Marshal and impounded in the Public Pound, and if not taken out by the owner or his agent in the manner prescribed by tins ordinance, shall, after not less than three titvys detention in said Pound be sold at public auction, and out of the proceeds of such sale, the Marshal shall retain his fees and charges as hereinafter prescribed, and the balance shall be puid into the town treasury. The owner of the animal shall be entitled to be paid the amount of such balance on satisfactory proof to tho Board of Trustees of his ownership of tiie animal at the time of sale. The Marshal’s fees under this ordinace shall be ns follows: For taking up und impounding each animal, 50 cents, for keeping each animal per day 25 cents, for delivering each ani- | mnl out of pound, 25 cents afid 5 per centum of proceeds of snlbp. Ordered, that when hogs are impounded, they may be sold by the Marshal at public auction, %o pay charges, after giving notice by posters written or printed, of the time of sale for five days before the sale, in three public places, in the town.
