Mr. Swum is from the great cheesemaking Western Reserve and is thoroughly posted in the art, or rather science of making good, rich, well-fla-vored cheese. All wanting to test f or themselves can find one of his make at C. C. Starr’s Grocery. Dr. A. H. Wirt, of Monticello, will he in Rensselaer next Tuesday, (Juno 15th.) All who require theservicesof n first class Dentist can avail themselves thereof by calling at Dr. J.H. Loughridge’s office early in the week. Dr. Wirt lias been eminently successful in Jasper county and we have yet to hear tlie first word of complaint from those who have employed him. Prices reasonable. Satisfaction certain. A dispatch received here last evening states that Col. Joseph G. Crane, U. 8. A., acting mayor of Jackson, Mississippi, and formerly of this place, was shot and killed by K. M. Yerger, a few days since. The alikir grew out •of the action of Col. Crane in seizing Yerger’s property for taxes. Hismiirderer was arrested by the military.— Colonel Crane was a brother-in-law to ■Congressman Kchenck, of Ohio, and related to the Misses Bmith, of Utc* town.
