£!)c(£i)icago<umco CIRCULAR FOR ISGB. The democratic party, though beaten in the late contest, cagio out of the trial with greater numerical strength than it had ever contained, and with a spirit not less dauntless Ttinu would -have animated it had.it, been successful. It prayed, again, in this event, as it hacj proved in the event of many past reverses, that it has vitality whjch no reverse Ui»n impair, and which, indeed, grows greater as the work it has to do increases in magnitude. Looking at its vitality, and at the naturo of its work, and at the discordant and destructible elements of the party opposing it, nothing is more certaiu in the future than its early return to power. It will be this result that shall reward every democrat who has watched, and waited, and prayed. and remained faithful, iu ail the dark days of the past. .The Chicago Times will aid in the attainment of this result with all tho power it possesses, in the belief that it is absolutely essential to the recovery of those rights and liberties of which tho states have been despoiled, and to the arrost of that drifting toward centralization, which, if not stayed, will reduce state lines to the same consequence as the fines oi counties ana towns, and establish a despotism at Washington all-pervading and more hateful than any oligarchy of Europe. "TblTsTatcs hitlsl again maMrrgo their domestic affairs in their own way, subject only to the constitution of tho United States. Those which wont negro suffrage must hnve it, and those which do not want it must not have it imposed on them by any external power. And so of every other domestic concern. Nor will there be return to an honest administration of the government, nor will the public debt be put iu the way of just and equitable payment, the*public credit be re-established, and taxation be reduced to tolorablo proportions, until democratic wisdom and integrity- shall once more prevail. The WEEKLY EDITION OF THE TIMES, in all respects a democratic journal, faithful to democratic principles, and earnest in the advocacy of democratic measures, commends itself to the patronage of earliest democrats and to circulation as a perpetual campaign paper. Iu its other features, as domestic, foreign, and commercial intelligence, literature, gossip. &c., &c-, it is not surpassed fin excellence by any weekly publication. Its whole character is comprehensively stated in saying that it is a great democratic and fainilylnewspaper. To every- farmer, its market intelligence alcjne is worth many- times tho price pf subscription. | T ‘—7 ‘ —— PRICES OF SUBSCRIPTION.
