A | road is needed from Cincinnati to ; Chicago —the two leading markets of the West. A road front LaFayettc, by way of Rensselaer and Crown Point, would satisfy the people here. But one from Indianapolis, the Capital City of Indiana, by way of Frankfort, Delphi, Montieello, Rensselaer arid Crown Point, might be more interesting. A road on this lino could carry passengers (and freight accordingly) one dollar cheaper than any other road now in operation. This with Indianaolis on the way would take the travel to Cincinnati. If the people want this road we, propose that they shall meet at once in their o-wn county seats, and resolve that they wi^'“Locate, grade and tie the road.” Then if any responsible company will take hold, finish and stock it let them do so; but let those who engage in the work, do it with the understanding that they, themselves shall -carryoa to eoniplctiom if nor sue rtTornpany presents itself. If railroads pay, \ve are satisfied thiSyivill, and if the people have to finish it (which is not likely) the road and the profits will be theirs, and they will manago it, subject only to their own interests and the laws of the State. If any one can think of abetter way let him spread .it before the people. Jasper County 'ig£Hing up very rapidly and wo must have another railroad. We think the people can build this ’'road if they will. We understand that Clinton county Is moving to bring the Evansville & Craivfordsville road through Frankfort.
