A regular, full-blown, city saloon on Front Street, last Saturday evening about seven o’clock. 'i'll© proprietor of the saloon, Mr. John Baldus, was beaten so severely about the head and face fts to keep him in bed ever since. Mrs. Baldus interfered to help her husband, and had nearly half the hair pulled out of her head and both ear-rings pulled through her ears, besides having her head badly bruised. Both wetos dragged out into the street. Young John Baldus, a one-armed boy, was hit over the pose and got a black eye. And Peter Baldus, a one-legged boy, was struck over the back of his neck with something harder than a feather pillow. The saloon furniture was pretty badly smashed up, oiul considerable quantities of blood, mud, etc., were sprinkled and spread and scattered about, on the bar, the walls, the tables, the floor, and the doorcasings. Sunday afternoon, young John BaldnS filed a complaint with Justice Harding, lagaihst WlllfiHn powers, Joseph Rowen, George" Robinson and Oliver Robinson; charging them with riot, and Depnty Constable Frank J. Purcupile was sent to arrest them. He succeeded in finding Powers, Rowen uDd George Robinson, who were taken to the Court House for trial. While preparations were being made for their examination and the constable was out summoning witnesses, Powers and Rowen tonnd ! oportdnity to escape from the Court roony in to the darkness outside, and hare not sincedseen seen. The trip!
