Serious Accident.

While chopping wood, last Frb day afternoon, Mr. Kuastus Peacock, living one mile below town, struck the whole blade of his ax into the instep of his left foot, laying open a wound four or live inches in length, and penetrating through tlesh, sinews, arteries and bones nearly to the sole, boiiio„ three or four inches deep. Amputation has not been performed, but may yet be necessary. Mr. Peacock is an industrious and estimable young man and has our sympathy in his affliction.
