C, DuPau, of New Albany, is reported to pay taxes on $3,000,000 worth of property. —The Monticello Herald wants Hon. Anson Wolcott,elected to the United States Senate. —-- —John C. Barnit was knocked • down and robbed of $270 a few evenings since at Logansport. —A ten thousand dollar fire occurred at Indianapolis on the night of the 28th. No insurance. i —Hon. P. P. Baily has been appointed Postmaster at Ft. Wayne, vice Moses Drake, deeeased. —The Rockport Democrat nominates Hon. W. E. Niblrjck a Democratic candidate for Governor in 1872. ' —The Crawfordsville Journal is authorized to announce that Hon. Henry S. Lane is not a candidate for the United States Senate. —Newton county claims to be outgrowihg Jasper in population. Wait until you hear from the Hymenial campaign of this fall. —There are 281 Odd Fellows Lodges in this. State with a membership of 15,584. The resources of the lodges amount to over half a million dollars. —The Southern State Penitentiary contains 417 male and 12 female convicts, and pays expenses. The $12,pOO appropriated by the last Legislature has not been used and is not needed. Hon. C. A.
