Melancholy Suicide.

Mob sow, -0.,- Nor- 9.—On Friday hist, the 7th inst, at 9:46 a. m., our usually quiet community was startled by the intelligence that Mrs. Watts, widow of the late Alfred Watts, had shot herself through the heart Further inquiry confirmed toe sad news. The circumstanrce leading to this fearful tragedy ore as follows: Mr. Alfred Watts, formerly est K-med in this community ns on 6 of the most enterprising citizens, and to whose energy most of ifef past and much of its present prosperity is due, tailed in business in 1859. He was -since known iu Cincinnati as Freight Agent of the Ohio and Mississippi Railroad, which he left in 1862. From there he was sent to Columbus, Ky., to take charge of certain railroad matters under United States authorities. As the war progressed he was removed to other important points, and finally died in the service at Nashville; Term., early in September. 1865. . Soon after this Mrs. Watts arid removed to this place, in the vicinity of which all to* relative* reside From that time Mrs. Watts has been almost a recluse, constantly brooding in solitude over fair gVeat bereavement Confirmed melancholy was the inevitable result, and finally terminated as stated above ; * The event occurred ns follows: For some time previous to this Mrs. Watts had been in the habit of making occasional calls at Mr. P. P.‘Hamer's (a near relative). Mr. Hamer being absent from home, had left a touted revolver on the mantel, for the protection of his family. It appears that Mrs. Watts bad noticed this, and seizing the opportunity unfortunately offered by tits inmates having left that room, committed the rash act, thus presenting herself aU .unhidden at the judgment seat of her Creator. “ An eminently devoted Vise, site would nit be comforted.
