THE INDIANAPOLIS AND DELPHI RAILROAD.
Last Fjidsy Major Palmer, of Indianapolis. was in the city in conference with President Lytle regarding the interests of tbo I. &D. Railway. A liberal aid has been' voted in every township along the line between here and Indiunapolis except Monroe township, in tbfs county, and it ia now the design te press forward at once and' vigorously in raising the personal subscription*. This work will be conducted by Major Palmer and Calvin Fletcher, of Indianapolis, who will pass over the line on horseback and devote their entire attention to tbo work to the end that construction may bo commenced early in the spring. These gentlemen aro live and thorough business men and have no tints for foolishness or unneoeetary delay. Thsy assume that the people along the line really want the road and ore willing to help build it. £hey do not expect therefore to spend much time in talking or argument. When they approach friends of the enterprise they expoet them to do fully and promptly all thay oan without words. Those gentlemen expect to be in Burlington within ton days and we trust the friends es tbe road will give them prompt and hearty 00-operation.—[Delphi Journal, Congressman De La Matyr, has introduced a bill in congress providing for the establishment of n branch mint at Indianapolis. The bill was referred to the 1 committee on coinage, weights and measi ures, of which. Mr. De La Mntjr n n member. There are already in the bands of the committee two bills of this kind, one for the location of the mint at’ Chicago and one at Cincinnati. ' HowI ever, none of them are likely to pus at present, for if a redaction i« made in the ooinage ol silver dollars, u recommended by Secretary Sherman, a branch mint will not bq needed.
