A Doctor’s Fatal Bargain.
A singular case of homicide was lately tried at Spoleti, Italy. Hie accused was a rich former named Carlo Mar? ronni, and his offense was shooting a doctor who had foi.ed to cure his child. When the child, a boy of fourteen months, fell ill the former sent for the doctor, and told him if his treatment was successful he would pay him 2,000 lire (about $400) but if the child died he would kill him. The doctor undertook the case, but his medicines seemed to aggravate the disease, and death ensued. A few days alter the funeral the former laid in wait for the unfortunate practitioner and shot him.
