Funeral of David Makeever.
The body of David Makeever, whose death at Carrington, North Dakota, was briefly mentioned last week, arrived here last Sunday, and the funeral was held that day. The burial rites preceded the funeral services, and were conducted by Reuselaer Lodge, Knights of Pythias. The funeral services were held the same afternoon at the M. E. Church, Rev. R. D. Utter preaching the funeral sermon. Owing to the blockaded condition of the railroads in North Dakota, since the great blizzard of the last week in November, it has been difficult to obtain full particulars regarding Mr. Makeever’s death, but it is understood that he either directly froze or died from the effects of exposure in that storm. That he had not previously been sick is known from the fact that only a very short time before his death, he to his wife in Missouri, stating that be was well and hearty. David Makeever was born in Newton Township, this county, in 1853 and was the oldest son of the late D S. Makeever. At the age of 23 he went west, and lived most of the time thereafter in different places in Missouri. About a year ago be came back east, leaving his wife and one child in Missouri, and later went to North Dakota, and was endeavoring to prepare a home for his family when death overtook him.
