The Shooting Tourament

The annual two day’ shooting tournament of the Iroquois Gun Club came off last Wednesday and Thursday. There were some excellent shooters present, but their number was so much less than was exptcu-d, as to make thu affair h good deal of a disappointment. The following is the blue-rock score for the two days. , FIRST DAT. * ; Shots Hits Lost. THE BADGE CONTEST. The contest for the ten county gold badge came off the afternoon of the second day. The following is the score. Shots Hits Lost King 50 48 2 Thomas 50 47 3 Partington 50 46 4 Elijah 50 42 8 Jennings ...... 50 41 9 Duryan 25 13 12 Park 50 50 00 Jos. Park, of Brook as the acore •hows, btoke 50 birds, straight running and so won the badge. He is a fine shot and a good fellow and, deserves fils victory; still, considering the circumstances, his 50 straight bits were not more remarkable than 48 out of 50 made by our townsman, ud the second best in the badge contest, J. W. King. lir. King bad taken part in every shooting of the day, and was therefore considerably worn ont. while Mr. Park bad only shot at 10 birds the whole day, previous to the beginning of the badge contest. wmW r * -*v

This is of courte bo reflection upon Mr. Park, hut bimplv explains why Mr King was not in as good con■ditioro'aa the former to shoot his best. The live pigeon shooting was practically a failure. A considerable number of the birds had been secured, but owing ui the hot weather they would not fly when thrown from the traps
