Miss Mattie Maxwell, youngest daughter of Dr. S. C. Maxwell, of Duluth, Minn, is visiting her uncle, Robert Parker. She is on her way home from attending the International Association of Christian Endeavor at Washington. , The teachers for the coming school year are Supt. Murphy, Principal Johnspn. Grades—Misses Timmons, McKee, Yeoman, Lees, Derschell, Hemricks and Bartoo. The Laboratory will be moved to the basement and the room used for one of the grades. Rev. S. V. McKee’s resignation as pastor of the Presbyterian Church was accepted by a vote of 22 to 35 Sunday, July 26. Mr. McKee has filled the position in a very able manner and we regret very much that he intends to leave us. We hope he will have a much better place next time than he had here.
The Fountain Park Assembly closed Sunday night, July 26, a brilliant success in all points except financially. Owing to the continued bad weather the attendance was very much less than it would have been otherwise, thus affecting the proceeds very seriously. Next year the Assembly will be held later in the season and it is hoped to be able to keep them up to the present high standard. It seems to be the general desire of the people that Dr. Tyler should be secured for next season if possible. The last day there were over eleven hundred tickets sold, besides the season tickets. This is the largest attendance in the history of the greunds.
