I do not believe that any one, not even Washington Irving, ever remained so long on the Alhambra’s hill. The manager grew so used to us that he gave up’providing the French dishes prepared for the tourist;-now the waiters brought only their own extraordinary messes, golden with saffron, scarlet with pepper, soft with oil, fragrant with ggrlic, most of which had hitherto been reserved for the family dinner in the office.
