Lillooet has long been knowp as a rich gold district, especially near Cayuse creek. Miners and prospectors have for a long time searched for the mother vein, which, it is believed, has at last been discovered. The vein has been stripped 120 feet and shown to be eight feet wide. Assays from samples run $505 to the ton. A. W. Smith, member pf the provincial parliament and an old resident of the district, says it is the richest thing yet seen.
