Editor Sutton Assaulted.

J. E. Sutton, editor and proprietor of the Longansport Daily Reporter, was assaulted at his office at 6 o’clock Monday night by Maurice Winfield, a young attorney. Winfield struck Sutton three times in the face inflicting severe bruises. The trouble grew*out of a rumor to tbe effect that Sutton had published statements reflecting upon Winfield’s character. Winfield made no investigations until after the encounter, when he learned that there was no foundation for tbe rumors. Then be returned to the office and begged the editor’s pardon for ins hasty conduct. Sutton declined to accept the apology. The young man is a son of Judge* M.Winfield. — ■ >. ■ . Call on Judson H.
