Bicycles and Gold Fillings.

Wabash Plain Dealer: The convention of Dunkards, many from this county being present, and in which representatives from all parts of the country sat, closed its sessions Tuesday at Covington, Ohio, a village a Jew miles east of Bradford, by declaring against bicycles and goldfilled teeth. The bicycle question was given considerable time. The first query, “Is it advisable to own and use a bicycle?” was decided in the negative, upon inferences drawn from Scriptural passages in Luke XV. 16, and Romans X11.,2. The first quotation is as follows: “And he said unto them, ye are they which justify yourselves before men, but God knoweth your hearts, for that which is highly esteemed among ; men is abomination in the sight of God.” The syllogism is stated as follows: That which is esteemed among men is abomination; the bicycle is esteemed among men; therefore the bicycle is an abomination. The other query, “Is it right to have the teeth filled with gold?” gave rise to a very interesting discussion, which terminated with the decision that gold as a matter of adornment in the teeth should be eschewed, notwithstanding the argument of a member that it mattered not so much what went into the mouth as what cometh out.
