Representative Joy, of St. Louis, drew a resolution which Speaker Reed permitted him to call up in the House Thursday morning, and which %ir. Joy will endeavor to have introduced in the 1 Senate. It follows: “Be It resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives; in Congress assembled, That the Secretary of War be and lie is hereby authorized to lend the Mayors of the cities of St. Louis and East St. Louis, under such regulations and restrictions as he may deem proper, a sufficient number of tents to temporarily shelter such citizens of said cities as may have lost their hotnee by the tornado.’’ The House adopted the resolution authorising the Secretary of War to afford temporary relief to 'St. Leais sufferers.
