The Democratic Convention.
The Democralis County convention was held in the corirt house, Saturday afternoon. In strict truth it was neither large nor enthusiastic. When called to order by County Chairman Shields there were just 36 persons present, several df whom were spectators. And thi||number wa3 not increased vety materially at any time. Ira Yeoman, of Remington, was elected chairman of the. convention, and Geo. Stembel, of Wheatfield secretary. ______ The ticket nominated was as fol-lows-.'TT - '"V For Treasurer Ammon Beasley, of Remington. For Recorder, Judson J. Hunt, of Gill am. , For Sheriff, Frank Fisher, of Kankakee. For Surveyor, El wood Spriggs, of Keener. For Coroner Dr. Pothiusje, of Remington. Commissioner, Frist Distriot, Wm. Cooper, of Union. Commissioner, Third District, John Tillman, of Carpenter. All the nominations were made by acclamation except Commissioner for the Frist District, where the choice was between Mr. Cooper and -Frank Hershman. of Walker. The ticket was, of course, mostly arranged beforehand by the bosses, and is fixed up for the Populists to swallow bodily. Beasely, Fisher, Spriggs, Cooper and Pothiusje are Democrats. Hunt and Stillman are supposed to be Populists. The convention forgot to nominate an Assessor. The convention chose delegates to the democratic state convention as follows: P,_ELJDftvis, N. S.
