The Fisher livery stable has again changed bands. C. E. Watson is now proprietor. "A heavy thunder storm struck this section Monday night. The lightning struck Mr. Biddle’s cow barn destroying it, and killing four cows. A meeting of the township S. S. Association was held at the Christian Chnrch Sat. evening. W. C. Smalley was elected president and John Major sec’y. and treasure. The S. S. Superintendents and one member of each school act as executive committee. Mr. Merrill has moved to Colfax 111. The graduating exercises will be held May 2. Thq M. E. May school commences May 4 th. Diptheria is in the north part of Carpenter township, Mr. Wooden’s lost their only daughter last week and their three sons are now sick with it. There are also one or two cases at Dluz&k’s. Misses Frances Hawkins and Fannie Jones have positions as teachers in the Anderson school. Mrs. Meehan has at last received her pension. £he will draw $8 for herself and $2 each for the minor children of which there are six after next month. This month there are seven. Mr. and Mrs. George Major held a pleasant reception of old friends last Tuesday evening. They left for Bloomington Friday. We ire all sorry to lose them from our midst but wish' them a plesant home in their “abiding place. John Major is now living in the property recently vacated by his father who has moved to Bloomington. Miss Maggie Leavel has closed her term of school and is now at home.
Miss. Alma Babb baa finished her coarse in pharmacy and is home again. Mrs. Graham’s is still quite sick bnt improving slowly., _ < Charlie Beasdey is also “under the weather” this week. Mesdames lea Morris and Florence Landon and Mias May Hemphill were delegates from Easters Star Chapter to Indianapolis last week. Jerome Harmon came over from the “City” Sunday* Sunday April 26 to Mr. and Mrs. Jess Allman a danghter. Saturday April 25, to Mr. and Mrs. Will Tribby a daughter. Mrs. Meehan has at last received her pension. She will chaw 17 months back pay for hemelf and seven minor children. Also two dollars a month for each of the children until they are sizleen years old. After next July however she will have only six to draw for. Mrs. Emma MontMcßae of Pardue University will deliver a lecture at the M. E. Church next Saturday evening, - ' / - . Miss, Fdith Hull died at the home of her father Norman Bull east of town Sunday afternoon. She Was well known here in town having attended school here and leaves many warm friends to mourn her loss. The funeral services were held Tuesday morning at Gilboe. A luge number of the Odd Fellows and Daughters of Rebecca attended. The interment was made at Gil boa. The Odd Fellows and “Beccas” gave a supper Monday evening that was a most interesting social event. About two hundred people were present. Mr. Robinson will occupy the house recently vacated by John Major. Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Sanderson and and little son of Brook visited Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Bartoo Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Landon of Kokomo and their daughter Mrs. Dr. Miller visited the Dr. again this week.
