Most persons are aware that the earth makes a complete resolution on its axis once in tiventy-four hours, but probably many are ignorant as to the high rate of ispeed in accomplishing the feat. The highest velocity ever‘at tallied by a.cannon-ball has been estimated something like 1,600 feet per second; and -the earth-mlist tunrifliiiost equally fast.
