The Band Convention.

The cornet band convention, bdi at the opera house, Wednesday afternoon, of last week, completed their deliberations at too late an hour to be reported last week. A permanent organization was effected, with H. Y. Weaver, of Rensselaer, as president; Chas. Spies, of Monon, vice-president; W.L.Handley, Of Lowell, secretary ;R. G. Turner, of Brook, treasurer. Meetings of the organization will be held semi-annnafly, the next to be at Lowell, May 16th, 1896.’ The name of the organization is The Northwest Indiana Musical Association, The following bands were represented: Monticello, Wolcott, Remington, Brook, Monon, Gillam, DeMotte, Lowell and Rensselaer. It is designed to invite to memberbership all bands in the northwest portion of the state, as defined by lines running north and west from Frankfort to the Michigan and Illinois state lines, respectively. Band contests for prizes will be a feature of future meetings; as will also the securing of the presence »**d services of eminent band players.
