Watson, the special pension examiner, is In town this week, coming to attend the Kannal-Alter wedding. Miss Mattie Benjamin is having a 5 room bouse built in Newton’s Addition. E. L. Cox dr Bro. have "the contract Harry Adamson and sister, Mrs M. D. Cbipman have gone to Ohio for a two weeks visit among relatives. The Presbyterian congregation will worship in the conrt house, as usual, next Sunday. Morning subjeet: “Heaven and Hell.” Evening subject; “Now.” Bates dr Wartena have torn down their old black smith building, on front street, and will at once build a new one. This building was still another old timer, having been built v 6 years ago, by Uncle Norm Warner. ———; The Ckuroh of God congregation has secured a settled pastor, in Rev, F. L. Austin, of Dutton, Mich., will begin his regular services in about four weeks. Mrs. Ora Ross gave a bicyfile party Tuesday evening; the rendezvous being near Burk’s bridge. Some 18 or 20 bicyclers were present and enjoyed the affair greatly .
Vannie Lesb, north of town, had the little finger of his left hand amputated Friday evening, by Drs. Alter and Loughridge. The deceased condition of the finger was the result of a bruise, suffered several months ago. Harry Thewlius, a young man working at carpentering for Cox & Bro., cut himself badly with a foot adz, yesterday, about noon. The main tendon of the left heel was entirely severed, itS£jM»ction with the bone. It will more or less cripple him, permanently. Rensselaer Wilkes will trot in a big race at the state fair, on Friday of this week. It is probable that a large number will go down from here, that day, and that some special . I iHI MM I 1 1 ■ .I. d H nWI arrangement will be made by the railroad, for their accommodation. Either a special car will bo attached to the late train of Thursday night, or what is more probable, the Indianapolis accommodation train that leaves Monon .every morning, will on that day make its start from Rensselaer. The state fair rate ®n the railroad is one fare for the round trip.
