Although somewhat strict, they should in the main, be adopted by -all wheelmen to avoid accidents on the street and on the road. This is not law, but in the main is common sense rules: 1. Lamps must be used between sunset and sunrise. 2. Wheelmen may not use the footpath along the road. 3. Wheelmen must sound a bell or whistle upon approaching a traveler. 4. Turn to the fight upon meeting any other traveler. 5. Pass those traveling in the same direction by going to the right 6. Dismount if the bicycle causes any beast upon the road to become restive or alarmed.
And while bicyclers are to remember this, horsemen and drivers of vehicles should remember that wheelmen have the same rights on the roadway as they, and should turn out giving half the road when necessary.
