Sylvester Jenkins and family visited John Casey’s family last Sunday. Chas. Shade, of Lee, spent last Sunday with bis father, in Fair Oaks. Green Thornton passed through Fair Oaks oa his way to Shelby, where he intends patting ap a large amount of hay. Edmond Walker has been offered SBOO for 2 small hills upon his place in Barkley Tp. The prospectors claim that there is a large amount of fine gravel in them. ■ ' John Casey claims to own the oldest piece of money in the county, it was made at Damascus and has the emblem of the Sultan Mahomed, it was made in 1233 making it 652 S years old* it is large but is only 10 cents. Frank Warren is very busy in bis store at Parr. A large delegation from Fair Oaks attended the races In Rensselaer last Thursday. A great deal of rain is needed in Fair Oaks yet, to make gardens what they ought to be. Francis Lakin, of Union Tp., has 200 acres of splendid corn. Geo. Casey is a hustler on putting up wind pumps. Joe Davis, of Barkley Tp., had his finest cow killed by lightning quite recently. S. E. Yeoman expects td eleaF SI,OOO on his crop of corn near Fair Oaks. Thomas Mallatt is very busy with his ditching machine and expects to be all summer.
