ADDITIONAL LOCALS.
' The first number in a new venture in journalism, in Jasper county, was issued hut .Thursday. It was the Wheatfield Sheaf, and is published in the town whose name it bears. The aim of the new paper seems to be to cover the. whole north tier of townships. We wish the new publication success, and judging from the fine advertising patronage in the initial number, its financial future is assured. E. Knott is the editor.
“Bowen’s Steam Riding Gallery,” which is a merry-go-round of large size and improved make, is now located on the vacant lots, north of the Makeever House, and promises to be one of the most attractive amusement features that has visited Rensselaer for some time. Its most enthusiastic patrons are of course, the children, but the older enjoy it greatly also. It has accomodations for about 60 riders, about half being on hobby horses. It is operated by a steam engine, and located under a big circular tent. It opened Tuesday afternoon and will remain the rest of the week and perhaps longer, Will be in operation all Saturday afternoon.
