FROM KNIMAN.

The hay crop is very short. The Rev. Baker is holding a series of meetings at this place. Geo. F. Peters is preparing to build a good residence in onr town. Martin White will shortly open business at the dive. The various committees are busy preparing their work for the Fourth. No effort is being spared to make tins the grandest day in the history of our town.

Halleck Bros, are still planting corn. They are putting out one hundred acres of sod com. —Mr. and Mrs. John Fleming are spending the summer in the Sunny South for the benefit of Mr * Fleming’s health which has been much benefited thereby. They are in the highlands of East Tennessee and Georgia. _• Mrs. Frank Hanley and children, of Chicago, are visiting at his parents Mr. Wm. Hanley’s of this place. Theie will be a special committee appointed for the Fourth to prevent the sale of intoxicating liquors bn or about the grounds and all such offenders will be held to answer the law of the local court which will be on the ground. A. E. McCoy has added a new kitchen to his residence. Mr. Eldred our new merchant has the reputation of keeping the strongest butter in town. It is not kept in he cooler but is found in the cranium of his billy goat. ■——■ Wm. Ballinger is pretty low with iver complaint.
