TOWN BOARD ORDINANCE
« . Concerning Smoke-Stacks. Section 1. Be it ordained by the Board of Trustees of the town of Rensselaer, Indiana, that it shall be unlawful for the owner of any stationery boiler or engine of a capacity of 15 horse power or over to operate the same within the corporate limits of the town of Rensselaer, Indiana, without first providing a stack or flue at least 50 feet high from the surface of the ground. Section 2. Any person guilty of a violation of Section 1, of this ordinance shall upon conviction thereof be fined in a sum not less than $5 nor more than $lO for each offense. Section 3. Whereas an emergency exists for the immediate taking effect of this ordinance, the same shall be in force from and after its passage and publication.... Approved in regular session, May 13th, 1895.
