The County Commissioners.
The county Commissioners, at their closing sessions last Thursday, re-appointed A. G. Hardy superintendent of the County Poor Farm and Mrs. Hildreth matron of the same, at the same salaries as last year. In accordance with the new law, just passed regulating gravel roads, the county commissioners divided the county into three gravel road districts. These are: The South District, including the gravel road in Carpenter Tp. The Northwest District, which includes College and Poor Farm gravel roads. The Northeast District, which includes Pleasant Ridge and Long Ridge gravel roads. Each of these districts, as this new law further requires, is put under the direct control of one of the County Commissioners. Hon. D. R. Jones has the South District. Hon. J. B. Martindale has the Northwest District; and Hon. B. R. Faris, the Northeast District. Each commissioner appoints a superintendent for his district. Mr. Jones has selected James Clowery; Mr. Martindale, has selected Ancil Woodworth, and Mr. Faris has selected Robt. Platt, for their respective districts. Each Superintendent works on his roads whenever the commissioner in charge so orders; and the pay of the superintendent, as fixed by law, is two dollars a day, for time actually employed. When they work with teams, the rate, including the team, is |3 per day.
