Another Railroad Possibility.

Once more, and for the say twentieth time, there is at least a possibility of another railroad for Rensselaer. The decision of the Presbyterians for the institution of a great “Chatauqua” at Bass Lake, in Starke county, is the foundation fact for this possible new railroad. It was proposed when this Chacauqua was first decided upon, to build a short electric railroad to connect with some neighboring railroads. Later this idea was abandoned and the next movement was to build a steam railroad from Knox through Winamac to Monticello. Now, according to the North Judson ‘News, this also has been abandoned, and a much more comprehensive scheme its place. It is no less than the building of a railroad from Sheldon, 111., to Toledo, Ohio, With Rensselaer, Winamac, the Chatauqua and Plymouth, points on the line. It is said that articles of agreement and incorporation are already drawn up, and that representative men are going over the line, interesting property ownersin the enterprise. This route is essentially the same that has been several times selected for a railroad, heretofore. It traverses an excellent scope of fertile, wealthy and well and one singiilarly devoid of railroads running in the direction this one proposes. The name selected for this projected road is the Toledo, Winona & Western.
