This is About What Rensselaer Escaped.
Rochester Republican. —For the past y|pr or more the people of Akron and vicinity have been anxious to secure a canning factory, and to that end contracted with a firm to erect a factory building and supply it with all the necessary machinery, the expense of which was to be between six and seven thousand dollars. About fifty substantia) citizens of Henry township took stock and the enterprise went along in a very satisfactory manner until it was realized that one-horse caning factories cannot be made profitable, and those who build the building and furnish the machinery are the only ones who i are profited by the undertaking. The confab that follwed resulted in a I regular war of words and came very nearly being more disastrous, as one fellow pulled his pop and threatened to perforate another man’s anatomy. The difficulty was finally compromised by each stockholder paying the contractor seven dollars and nineteen cents, which aggregates three hundred and fi'ty-nine dollars and fifty cents. The contractor pocketed the swag and departed. Seven dollars worth of experience is worth something to some people, while it only makes others more anxious to bite * bare hook.
