CRIMES AND CRIMINALS.
Edward R. Carter, coupon clerk of the National Bank of Commerce, at New York, was arrested, Dec. 27, as a defaulter and confessed to having appropriated 230,000 of the bank's money. Carter is forty-four years old and has been employed in the bank in various capacities for twenty-nine years. A. K.
