THE INTERNAL REVENUE.
The annual report of Commissioner Miller, of the Bureau of Internal Revenue, was given to the press, Nov. 29. -Many interesting statistics are given. The total receipts for the fiscal year ending June 30, 1894, were $147,163,449; receipts from spirits, $85,259,253; tobacco, $28,617,898; oleomargarine, $1,723,479. The aggregate collection of internal revenue in Indiana for the fiscal year ending June 30,1894, was $4,920,167,23, of which the Sixth Indiana district contributed $365,255.56 under Collector Cravens and $1,586,489.08 under Collector Bracken, while the Seventh Indiana district contributed under Collector Throop $1,261,812.50, and under Collector Jump $1,307.110.09. There are in the State sixteen grain distille-fes of which fourteen are operated, and fourteen are fruit distilleries, of which eleven are in operation. During the year Indiana converted 1,024.079 bushels of grain into malt and spirituous liquors. There were also 3,548 gallons of fruit brandy manufactured. During the year there were rectified in the Sixth District 104,525 gallons of spirits, and in the Seventh 1,253.732, a total of 1,358,257 for the State. Of fermented liquors. 339,959 barrels were produced in the Sixth District and 276,108 in the Seventh, a total of 616,067 in the State. There are 8.123 retail liquor dealers in the State, seventy-six wholesale dealers and fifty-lour breweries.
