A Clever Cat.

A private call for fire engines wentj rom a house In Willow street,’ Brooklyn, and the neighborhood wasi itartled by the sudden appearancej >f firemen. The occupants of thq louse were awakened, but failed tO| liscover any trace of fire, and the; iremen went away angry. The; ilarm had been sent out through one: if the district telegraph call boxes, ;he signals from which will summon, i messenger, a policemen or a fire: jngine. Nobody in the house would! admit having sent such a call, but yesterday there was a development which cleared up the mystery. There is a very clever cat in the house, and yegterday forenoon tabby was caught; playing with the lever of the alarmj box. The little ebony knob at» tracted her attention, and she pullecj it down with her claws. Tabby ha<| been locked in the room with tha alarm box on Monday night anq Tuesday morning.
