The Rude Murder Case Again.
Valparaiso Vidette. The Porter-Starke cause-celebre, the Rude murder mystery, is promised some additional stirring up of a rather startling character. A female detective from Chicago has been down in Starke county for the past few weeks at active work upon the case, and has just allowed her identity to become known, having nearly completed her work. While she declines to reveal anything of what her search has so far turned up until her work is completed, she promises that her story will be extremely interesting. She claims to have unquestionable proof that Rude’s death was not due to accident. The details of this case were widely published and will be generally remem Oered. Ambrose Rude, a Starke county farmer, was drowned while fishing on the Kankakee, over the line in Porter county. His companion, John Eckert, was arrested and held to the circuit court for murder, but the proof was not forthcoming for a conviction and he was set free. Then through Indianapolis attorneys and with a flourish of trumpet*>Eckert filed slander damage suits against several neighbors, but they never came to trial.
