Morgan was at Lebanon, last Wednesday night, as representative of Rensselaer Knights of Pythias, at the dedication of a large hall, just completed by the K- of P. of Lebanon. J. B. Austin, of Wilsonville, Neb., arrived herb with a car load of 180 slock hogs, last Saturday. He sold thi whole load to Perry Marlatt, the deal being engineered by Bill N. Jones.

Juhn King attended a blue-rock shoot, .at West Lebanon, last Thursday, and bore meekly his honors as wearer of the Iroquois Club’s gold medal, as champion six county wing shot. He was right in it however, as a shootist, and won about (40, during the day’s shooting. Peaches, Pears, Plums, home grown water-melons, received- daily at Alter & Yates .’ Hon. Patrick J. Carlon, of Washington, D. C., a very eloquent orator, of Irish nationality, will make three speeches in Jasper county this week. Wednesday night he was at Kniman. This, Thursday night, he will be at Center school house, Barkley tp., and Friday night at Brushwood, Union tp.

Church, will give a musical concert at the church next Monday evening. Admission, 10 cents. C. W. Coen killed a pretty large rattle-snake, at the door of his grain office, a few days ago. Very likely the reptile came to town in some farmer’s load of hay.

The biggest and best day’s work ever done in the county, in the way of making new voters, was transacted yesterday, when the papers were issued to 22 Hollanders, from Keener tp., which will entitle them to vote at the coming election. They are all Republicans. Bert Shepherd, the violinist, wlo will be one of the chief attractions at Miss E. Warde Hoffman concert, at the Opera House, Oct. 19ih, is the greatest musicial prodigy Jasper county ever produced. He was raised in Remington, and showed his wonderful talents for music from earliest childhood.
