A marriage license, which was issued a few weeks ago to Joseph Ballard and Bessie Whittaker, has been returned to the clerk, unused. The young lady was not of legal age to marry without her parents’ consent, but the father of the expectant groom, one W. H. Ballard, of Medaryville, represented to the clerk that she was, and on the strength of his representations, the license was issued. The parents of the young lady objected to the marriage, and, to the credit of her own good judgement, it is said that she herself was of about the same way of thinking.
