GILLAM ITEMS.
We had a fine shower last Saturday, which greatly benefitted growing crops. Florence Robinson and Rilla Osborne, who have been attending the Normal at Rensselaer, spent Saturday and Sunday in Gillam. Salem Long is on the sick list. Miss Addie Mitchell who has been in poor health for several months is not improving as fast as her friends hoped she might. The lawn social given by the Epworth League for the benefit of Independence church was a success both socially and financially. Rev. Hoover preached his last sermon for this conference year at West Vernon, last Sunday, and to show their appreciation of his labors the congregation agreeably surprised him with several desirable presents. Died. Adam—Coppess, the oldest citizen of Gillam tp., Aug. 8, 1894, at the age of 82 years amt 5 months.
