Rensselaer Republican, Volume 26, Number 51, Rensselaer, Jasper County, 16 August 1894 — THE TOWN BOARD. [ARTICLE]
THE TOWN BOARD.
Monday night was regular Town Board meeting night. The rate of tax for special school purposes was increased from 25 to 80 cents, on the SIOO. The question of a stone arch bridge over Makemself ditch, on Cullen street, was discussed. The bridge will probably be built. The floor of the river bridge is to be relaid, and the street committee was ordered to purchase the lumber. An additional arc light, to be located on Main street, north of the depot, was arranged for. A proposition was received from Warren Robinson to sell to the town his large addition to Weston cemetery. He offers 300 cemetery lots for SBOO. It is probable that the offer will be accepted. A petition from Washington street properly owners, to refund a small portion of their assessments on the street improvement of two years ago, was rejected. "
