Born, July 21st, to Mr. and Mrs. Win. Lyons, a daughter. A very small blaze in Mr. Kirk’s summer kitchen caused quite an cxeitement last week. The judicious use of a few pails of water was sufficient to make All safe, however. Mrs. W. H 1 Shaw went to Lafayette, Monday, to spend a w r eek wtih with Capt. J. B. Shaw. From there she will go to Chicago to visit Mrs. Solomon. At the last communion service of the Presbyterian church Mr. and Mrs. Williamson and Miss Jennie Bailee were added to the list of members. The cottage on Indiana Street recently purchased by Mrs. MeCulley has been thoroughly renovated and is now nearly ready for occupancy. Mrs. Hattie Shepherd has been seriously ill for ten dajs. Mrs. Palmer who has been visiting her sister, Mrs. Shaw, has returned to her home in EvansvilleMiss Minnie Walker has gone to Chicago for a stay of indefinite length. While working Jon the east ware house last Friday, H. E. Hartley dropped a heavy chisel, severing the abductor minimi digiti and exter nal planter artery causing severe hemorrhage; and the use of crutches on Saturday.
The Southers-Priee Co. gave a very commendable performance Friday night to a small bat select audience. They deserve a much better house than they had, and it is to be hoped their next performance will he more liberally patronized.
