They were the property of the Columbian Exposition Salvage Company, and had ls:e» purchased from the Exposition Company for about 0.000. The fire started in the terminal station and spread rapidly to the other buildings. So swift was the spread of tho flames that the firemen escaped with difficulty. One engine company was forced to abandon the engine and barely had time to cut the horses loose. One animal succeeded in getting away the other was suffocated.
