ADDITIONAL LOCALS.
■ A little son of S. M. Laßue was thrown from his pony, some days: and badly cut and bruised his head and face. This handling of ponies and horses by young children is dangerous. Besides the above accident, two cases of broken bones have | resulted from it, not long since, and, several lesser accidents and various narrow escapes. Best not to encour- i age the children to be to precocious in handling horses. Clothing just received, prices positively lowest. Fendigs Fair. The Commissioners iflade several changes and new appointments in grayel road bosses, last week. Lyman Zea was transferred from the north end of Long Ridge Road, to the south portionof.the same, while,. Squire W. H. Churchill takes Lyman’s former place. L. H. Hamilton is to superintend that part of the Poor Farm and Pleasant Ridge road sub-let to Strickfaden & Roberts; while Wm. M. Hoover now looks after the south end of College Road. Wm. Stephenson, who was boss of that division^,.has. got lost in the shuffle.

Wright and Judge Healy came out with dyed mustaches, last week, and their improved appearance was so noticeable, that Uncle Charley Herkey took the hint and followed their example; and with the result that in his rejuvenated personal appearance he so obviously surpassed the other two that their souls were moved to envy. This was so much the case with the genial Judge, that he seriously threatened to castigate Fred Phillips, whom he shrewdly suspected to have instigated Uncle Charley in following his example, ss above stated.

Daugherty, against the Western Union Telegraph Company,came up for trial at Valparaiso, the latter part of the week. As it will be remembered, she sued the compay for $5,000, because of failure at Rensselaar to deliver a telegram asking to have her mother’s funeral post-poned until she could arrive. Messrs. Rev. Utter, H. V. Weaver, J. F. Iliff. Robert Randle and Mrs. Sarah Parcels, were Rensselaer parties who testified for for “the plaintiff. Monday the defense was about to begin the evidence when it was learned that the attorney for the plaintiff had lost his original telegram, and that his supposed copy did not read like the official copy presented by the defense. Was different quite materially, in fact. Upon learning this, Judge Gillett threw the case out of court, at the cost of the plaintiff Of course the plaintiff is at liberty to bring a new action, if thought best. Station Agent Beam, and his assistant, Mr. Vanarsdal, were present to testify for the defense, but the case was thrown out before any of their evidence was taken.
