NEWTON ITEMS.
All schools in tis township are now closed. . - . • t My. and Mrs. Shindler are the owners of a fine new top buggy. Miss Emma Goetz has gone to Fair Qtks to teach the spring term of School . Miss Lydia Wuerlhner of Newton and Miss Ruby Knowltoa, of Jordan tp., left Monday for Valparaiso, to attend the Normal school. The entertainment given by No. 8 school was in every 7 respect a grand success. The house was crowded to its utmost capacity. Many had to be satisfied with looking in at the windows, as the house would not hold them by far. The exercises contisting of songs, dialogues and declamations, began promptly at 8 p. m. and lasted until 11:45. Although the program was nearly 4 hours long, bo One complained of being weary. We extend our congratulations to the young people of South Meadow and must say that they meet with grand success in whatever they undertake.
