Mr. Thomas Turpin, of Peoria, is visiting relatives here. Bert Van Voorhees, of Monticello, was in town last week. Joe Peffley is building a new house on Range Line st. C. C. Landon, of the Chicago Dental College is at home for the summer. Mr. Noland has moved into his new house in the southeast part of town.
Mr. Wm. Tharp and Miss Leota Aller from Rensselaer, visited their relatives on Sunday of last week. Mrs. Chas. Harrington and babe are visiting relatives here. Her home is in Bloomington 111. The Bloomingson students have a ten days vacation between terms, and will be home this week. Mr. Selsor, of Potomac, HL, has recently moved on the Geo. Jordan farm 1| miles north of town. Miss Jennie Beal has sold out her millinery store at Chalmers and has come home to assist Miss Ida in the care of their mother who is quite ill. Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Ralph are visiting Mrs. Ralph’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. G. B. Clark. Mr. Ralph returns home this week, but Mrs. Ralph will remain several weeks. Mrs. Ryan has been allowed $6,000 in her suit for damages. We hope if the suit is carried to a higher court that the jury will give her the full SIO,OOO.
The Ladies of the Christian church will give a fancy Bazar at Durand Hall Saturday evening. There will be appropriate services by the Sunday schools on Sunday evening. Both at the Christian an i M. E. churches. Prof. J C. Dickerson, of Goodland, with wife and babies spent Saturday in town the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Parker. Mr. Dickerson retains his position in Goodland, at an increase of salary. Rev. Love, of Newton, Ind., is assisting Rev. McKee to hold revival services at the Presbyterian church. The meetings are held afternoons and evenings. Rev. Love is a very able speaker and the meetings are well attended. Mrs. Wilkins, the grandmother of Mrs. Geo. Allman, returns to her home in 111., this week. This venerable lady, though 94 years old is as smart and spry as any young woman. She has no need of spectacles, being able to see without them. She carries a cane, but it is evidently not for use, as she is seldom seen using it.
