The Monon and the “Three I.”

Indianapolis Journal. It is stated that the Louisville, New Albany A Chicago is about to close arrangements with the Illinois, Indiana A lowa which will be of decided benefit to the Monon. The Three “I” road is practically the outer belt road around Chicago, with its eastern terminus at Wheatfield, Ind. It handles immense quantities of through business from the west to the east, which in the past it has been turning Over to the Chicago & Eastern Illinois at Wheatfield, which is on the Chicago & Indiana Coal road, leased by the C. <fe E. Illinois; it is then turned over to the Chicago & West Michigan, which hauls it from LaCrosse and turns it over to the Lake Shore at LaPorte, or the .Michigan centtal at New Buffalo. The present contracts expire in about 30 days and it is understood that on the expiration of the present contracts the three “I’s. will operate in connection with the Monon. The three “I’s” road crosses the Monon at San Pierre, and the Monon would haul the business thirty-five miles to Michigan City. It is stated the business which would be turned over to the Monon will average 150 loaded cars a day.
