Rensselaer Republican, Volume 26, Number 17, Rensselaer, Jasper County, 21 December 1893 — THE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS. [ARTICLE]
THE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS.
The Commissioners naet the Porter county commissioners in joint- * session, at. Baum’s bridge, over the Kankakee river, last Wednesday. They were accompanied by auditor Murray and Sheriff Hanley. The .bridge was decided to be past repairing, to advantage, and bids for building anew one are advertised for. They ask for bids on both a wood and a steel bridge, and will accept a steel bridge proposition if any seem low enough. The bids will be acted upon Jan. 17, at Hammond. *Tha trustee of Wheatfield tp., has been directed to repair the two wooden bridges in the Jasper county approaches to the Banm’s bridge. The blank books and stationery matter seems to be in statu quo , at least the records contain no allusion to it. ■ In the matter of the petition for the so-called College, Long Ridge, Poor and Pleasant Ridge, gravel roads, in Marion tp., the former viewers, Dexter R. Jones and John A. Lambom were reappointed, as was also the former engineer, J. E. Alter, the county surveyor. They are directed in the order to utilize, as far as possible, their former view and estimates. They must file their report by Jan. 17th.
