REMINGTON ITEMS.
Mr. Theodore Hawkins, who was buried at Gilboa cemetery last Wednesday, was a half brother of Lee ilawkins of this place. His death occured at Chicago, where he lived for some time. For five years he has been a helpless invalid; and no doubt death to him was a sweet release.
Jake Thomas is now able to sit up. He is as lively as ever, and able to “crack jokes" with the best of ’em. Mr. Millikin, of the plow firm of Miilikin, Cisle <fc Co., of Peoria, was in town Thursday. Geo. Allman is home again from Chicago. Miss Jessie Mclntire has returned from her trip to Indianapolis. Bert Shepherd 18 traveling in South Dakota, where he expecte to spend the winter. He is with Swell’s Orchestra. The Willing Workers Bakst was quite a success from a financial point of thehhrd times, as they cleared nearly twenty dollars. The little friends Of MWter Orrie Landon surprised Mm' last Thursday evening, the OCfiadion being his twelfth birthdiy. Mrt. Landon very agmably suprised the suprisers
by serving them with iqe creato and cake. . .... , There are rumors. floating through the air that, “Marriage bells will soon be risging” for several of our prominent society belles, James Hollett is visiting his brother J. E. Hollett. The Endeavor Societies of the Presbyterian and Christian Churches are preparing a cantata for the holidays. They are getting along finely with their practicing, and it will no doubt be well worth hearing. funeral of Mrs. Geo. May who died Friday, was held at the family home, Sunday afternoon. Jesse Lockwood, a former Remington boy, now located at Morocco, has been very sick. At present he is some better.
- Mrs. James Sheetz, of West Lafayette, -attended the funeral of her half-brother, Theo. Hawkins, and made a short visit with her son, HaL S. M. Snoddy, who has been visiting Geo. Mayors, wens home Friday. Drs. Pothuisje and Pratt performed a very delicate surgical operation upon Mrs. Holmes, who lives on the Kate Ochs’ farm four miles northeast of town. At last reports the patient was doing well, and gives hopes of complete recovery. Miss Reznor, who has bean visiting Geo. Griflln’s family, returned to her home near Buffalo, N. Y., Friday morning. Grandpa Detrick, of Monon, is making a Christmas visit to his children here. He is now with his daughter, Mrs. Noland.
