THE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS.
The County Commissioners have continued their session, into the present week. Much time has been devoted to the careful consideration of claims, and but bttle business of public interest has been transacted. Philip Blue has been appointed a constable for Marion tp., to succeed J. Q. Alter, resigned. “ The county poor asylum was insured for $5,000. Tuesday evening a petition was filed asking for gravel roads in Rensselaer and Marion tp., covering the same roads as did the former proposition, voted down last September. No action had been taken by the commissioners up to the time we go to press. The letting of the blank book and stationery contract was under consideration Tuesday afternoon. Bids were received from Burford; Baker Thornton, of Indianapolis, and Spring & Emerson Co., of Lafayette. The successful bidder is not yet announced. Yester day the commissioners, with the auditor and sheriff, went to Baum’s bridge, at the far end of Wheatfield tp., to meet the Porter Co., commissioners, to arrange for repairing the said bridge.
