REMINGTON ITEMS.
Mrs. Frank Timmons and babies left Monday for a warmer clime. They will spend the winter in Louisana. Old Mr. Mcßoyle, whose illness was previously mentioned, died Saturday*morning at the residence of his daughter, Mrs. Ralph Brewster. He was eighty-six years of age. The remains were taken Monday morning to LaSalle county, Ills, for interment. Mrs. B. B. Jeffries, of Vincennes, who came to attend the funeral of her nephew, U. L. Black, will make a visit of several weeks duration. All or our older residents will remember Mrs. Jeffries, as this place was so long her home. , (J
Ice will probably be plentiful next year, as J. E. Hollett and Homer Hardy are erecting new ice house?. The new firm of Spencer and Khster have moved into Hart’s store room, north of the depot. The Union Thanksgiving services held at the Presbyterian church were very interesting. Rev. Handley delivered a very able discourse to a remarkably large audience, for Thanksgiving day. Mr. and Mrs. J. spent Thanksgiving in Wolcott. The Remington and Carpenter tp., schools were well represented at the Teachers’ Association at Rensseaer. The supper and reception given by lheY. M. B. C. to the young ladies club was a very “recherche” affair. The tables .prepared by Mrs. Ica Morris literally groaned under their load of good things, while the reception held at the residence of Ezra ' lowman was one of the most brilliant social events of the season' The spacious parlors were beautifully decorated with flowers and buntings —While the young ladies were in full evening costume. Mr. David Shearer made a business trip to Gas City last week. Mrs. Harry Hartley has been seriously indisposed for a few days—but is some better at present.
Op Vickery has gone to Keokuk, lowa, to clerk in his uncle’s store. Mrs. Witman is visiting friends and relatives here. Geo. Heileg is selling his household goods preparatory to moving to Chicago next week. Dr. Will Morris fell from the loft of his father’s stable Sunday afternoon and broke his leg just below the knee. This is the third time that he has broke his leg. It is to be hoped that the old saw “three times and hen out” may prove true in his case.
Mrs. Beal met with quite a serious accident Thanksgiving. In going down the porch, she stepped on a stick that rolled under her, causing her to slip, and giving her ankle a very painful sprain. The Junior Society of Christian Endeavor gave a very interesting entertainment at the Christian church Sunday evening. Prominent among the many good thingr prepared, by the little folk were a duet by June Bowman and Anna Beasely, and a declam alien by Homer Lambert.
